God of all comfort, You are the only One who fully knows the pains and sufferings of mankind, including my own little ones. You are a Man just like me, tempted in every way just as I am and required to live by faith just as I am. You are able to comfort my soul, my mind and even my physical body because You first suffered the things I am currently suffering. You saw the powerlessness of the religious institutions in Your day to meet the heart-needs and literal, physical needs of the people. You saw the devil’s handiwork in those who were called to be the expression of Your hands. You saw people suffering bereavement, confusion, anxiety, injustice and the like and felt the pain of it all – even more acutely so, because You had the greater revelation of what they were created to be and who they really were before You. In the midst of it all, You manifested the comfort of a tender Father to the wandering sheep by smashing the worthless shepherds’ authority. The very title given to the Holy Spirit, the guarantee of our eternal life inherited through the blood of Jesus, is the Comforter, the Helper. Come, let me know Your perfect comfort in times of distress, trial, persecution and duress. May I know Your comfort that I may be an effective vessel of comfort to those who are in the throes of the pains of life. Reveal Yourself to me as my Great Comforter, Holy Spirit, take me into heaven’s consolation in Jesus’ name AMEN
2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Isaiah 61 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
Hosea 2:14 “ Therefore, behold, I will allure her, Will bring her into the wilderness, And speak comfort to her.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
