I would hardy have to tell You that my ability to persevere is pathetic right now…
Yet, I am beginning to see that even on my best day, when I feel the strongest and most committed to You, that even then, my resolve and my dedication is so fickle and full of holes, so dependent upon circumstances and upon faulty motives. But Jesus, I do not and I cannot look to myself to find the resolve I need to truly live for You in a way that is even remotely radical or whole-hearted. I look to You, who, even when You knew what was going to happen to You in Jerusalem, You set Your face like flint to do what needed to be done. You were a Man of vision, passion and dedication. You set Your mind and heart to do something and You do it. you never leave anything half-done, half-accomplished or even 99% done. Whatever You start, You complete. Always. You have been pursuing the hearts of men for at least 6000 years and Your zeal has not waned one degree – if it hasn’t actually increased since then because the time now is so short before Your return. Holy Spirit, help me. Strengthen my resolve to serve my God and King no matter the circumstances, the feelings, the emotions or lack thereof. Help me to do what is right when no one is watching. Help me to fulfill my duties before You in a way that is integrous and full of honor. Thank You for loving me until the end and never giving up on me, like I have so many times on You. You believe in me far more than I do You. Change me. Transform me. Do not leave me as I am. Take me where I can not go myself. Take me where I can only go if You take me there, in Jesus’ name AMEN
