Cleansing – 4/16/03

Luke 15:10, 2 Corinthians 7:8-10

Every day I walk the muddy earth.
I’m in need of cleansing.
The world waits outside
while I retreat into a house
that is not of my own making,
to rest in the pure, healing water.
Lost restraints of time set me free as
dirt amassed plunges into water.

Like a pane of polished glass,
vision clarifies with every cleansing.
To look outside now
is not to stare at filth,
but to gaze toward the sky,
the chaste haven of the dove.
Water soiled swirls down away,
forever gone.
Now I am clean and lovely,
ready once again
to walk the muddy earth.
