Watchtowers
lay sleeping and empty.
Unanswered calls
create cracks in security.
This call, so plain and
so forward, you recognize.
Innate authority and
urgency surpass your
own defenses. “Arise!
Man your post. Take
the stand you have
been appointed. No
more shrinking in
corners, hiding in
shadows, ever wary of
what lies behind. Arise!
Stand boldly in place.”
Do you not know
who has issued this call?
You mustn’t, for if you
did, you would jump,
move, yes even search
for an opening in the
night watch. Light your
lamp, scan the dark on dark
horizon of unknown future
and dark restraints of
the present, wait for the
arising light of the Sun.
Prepare your voice
for the call in the night,
the alert of battles
Marching,
Approaching.
