Song of Solomon 4:7-9

The treadmill of life exhausts you.
Always running, never reaching
your destination, in fact you have
gone nowhere.
Every day, tired.
Every night, tired.
“Hi Hon. G’night,” is all you can say–
what’s the point of all this toil and spin?

Like a top, you are moving fast,
but never forward;
like a fly-by with cruise-control at 75
past Dufur, Rufus, and Biggs,
hunkered down to enjoy the fleeting arrival.
Introspection pulls up questions, confusion,
and anxiety. You long for adventure:
the scaling of walls, conquering of mountains.
The secret excitement of your expectant adulthood;
the lost spark, the snuffed wick.
Where can you get it back?

Find the mountain. Climb it. Seems you have
nothing but sand to set your feet upon
and time is running out.

-Matthew Harri

BACK

We are all called to the mountains (the challenges and adventures) by the One who made us. We need a Partner to go with…
