Luke 12:48
Lofty peaks of conceit
brought low, cutting ravines
of self-doubt filled in,
The Great Equalizer
levels the field.
Boasts of great deeds
exposed, loyalty to
small things rewarded,
The Great Equalizer
searches the heart.
Billions to Bill,
visibly self sufficient,
pennies to those dependent
upon kindness–
the Great Equalizer
requires accordingly,
and plays His eternal song.
There is only one place
where rich and poor are equal,
lame and well walk together,
and the one matches many:
before the Great Equalizer;
only one place where life
equals love, and love
equals justice: before
the Great Equalizer.
Boast not in your privilege,
for to whom much is given,
much more is required.
