Incarnate Thirst 6/25/03
Bore·dom (‘bOr-d&m)
: the state of being weary and restless through lack of interest
: the ache to feel exhilarated.
Don’t worry, we were created
to feel that way – not bored, exhilarated!
To gaze, to sit, to listen
in engaged
trembling.
To movies? To X-box?
Ten thousand times, No!
To gaze and drink deeply
of the boggling beauty of our Creator.
To behold the radiant glory
of Jesus’ transfigured face.
His passionate eyes
like a flame of fire.
The throne of God
sits upon a sea of sapphire
like glass mingled with fire.
His very Being emanates colors
describable only by sounds.
We tremble in awe
before Something we know is so big
yet so gently intimate
so intensely personal.
Sit at His wounded feet
thank Him for this life
He gave so freely.
Simply spend time before Him
bathing adoration upon Him
for His greatness and goodness.
Listen to the creative Voice
that once commanded light
to break forth from darkness,
that transformed the entire atmosphere,
instantly and beautifully.
The creative Voice still speaks
to the vacuumous voids
of dark human hearts
and creates love, passion, purpose
where there used to be
nothing but bitterness and pain.
Out of life’s storm, there is calm.
Out of life’s tempest, there is peace.
The Bride knows Beauty.
Proclaim Him!
The Perfection of Beauty!
Our Beloved!
Chief among ten-thousand!
Fairer than all the sons of men!
Do not be too easily satisfied
by today’s entertainment
for here in His presence
a sensory overload experience
waiting to be delved into.
We always ask for more—
We are never fully satisfied
apart from Him—
the very testimony
that we are created to seek after Him;
that we are an incarnate thirst.
