Time For Singing

Time for Singing 3/22/03

The choir has moved in
To the garden out front.
Extravagant robes of
Yellow, red and blue
Singing almost as loud
As the wearers themselves.

Busheled boxes of brushes past
Are now wrapping
Their delicate cargo
Of future generations.

Is it here yet?
Experts say spring came
Day before yesterday
And if the choir
Is any indication,
I would believe them, too.

When the air begins
To join the choir
In the countdown
To season’s change,
The warmth of the time
Permeates the packed soil,
Still cold from past death
But harboring secret life
Abundant.

It’s moving time
For the choir out front
And their song
Refreshes their neighbors
As they awake
With a yawn
Of satisfaction.
